Respectful, or nothing.
IQ Adviser is for advisers helping advisers. Everyone here is regulated, busy and good at their job, and every one of them started out asking basic questions. Disagree with the advice as much as you like. Never with the person.
Be respectful, always
No belittling, sneering, talking down to or piling on another adviser. Newer advisers and basic questions are welcome here, every time.
Challenge the advice, not the person
If you think something's wrong, say why: the rule, the criteria, the case you've seen. Keep it professional and it helps everyone reading.
No client data
Never post a client's name, address, date of birth, or policy or account numbers. Describe the case, not the person. Posts that look like client data are stopped before they're saved.
No selling
No adverts, recruiting, lead selling or touting for business. This is a place to help, not to pitch.
Keep it lawful
Nothing defamatory about named people or firms, and nothing that would breach FCA rules if a regulator read it.
Report it, don't return it
If someone is out of line, press Report and leave it to the moderators. Don't reply in kind.
If someone breaks the respect rule
- First time
- A formal warning. You see it until you acknowledge it, and it costs 250 points.
- Second time
- A 7 day suspension.
- Third time
- A permanent ban.
Anything serious (harassment, discrimination, threats, or sharing client data on purpose) can mean a ban straight away. Every action records who took it and why.
